Parade Before the Bavarian Blast in New Ulm, MN

The parade in New Ulm, MN (homeland to Grandma Roadie) which kicks off festivities for the Bavarian Blast.

Pre-parade tailgating.

Getting ready to watch the floats and catch some goodies.

Turner Hall has hosted some fine polka bands over the years.

What's a parade without a polka band?

...or two.

New Ulm is home of the August Schell Brewery

At some parades there is candy thrown to the kids

At others, especially in the upper Midwest, they throw cheese!

Hermann the German overlooks New Ulm.

Claire and Eddie in Minnesota

Claire and Eddie join Mom for a trip to her homeland.

Cousin Mike takes the kids out on one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes: Lake Washington, just outside of Mankato, MN. Close to Eagle Lake, MN - Home of the Eagle's Nest Bar and home of the world famous Duke Burger (owned by Cousin Dave).

Claire tries to flip the Duke Burger. 2 lbs of ground beef.

Germans and beer. Let's wait a while until he gets started.

The gang gets together for the Wilfahrt Family reunion. Can you tell who's the black sheep of the family?

Nice look to the west, pre-sunset

Early evening in late July from the backyard of our Fruita home.

Sunsets With Smoke

A pretty large fire on the Grand Mesa has filled the valley with smoke. It's not nice to breath but it sure makes for some beautiful sunsets.
